The J.E. Hammer Group is a multi-national, multi-business conglomerate. From its modest origins in East Germany in 1860, today, the Group's footprint extends to 24 countries. Milestones

1860
Foundation by Johannes Ephraim Hammer in Gehringswalde, Saxony with luxury articles like gold cigarette cases, elegant powder boxes etc. at the Leipzig trade fair.

1860 
The first material book keeping record - january 1860

1880 
The designing and crafting of fine jewellery began

Louis and Robert Hammer, the sons of the founder join the business

1890 
now a much larger building in Wilmsdorf, next to Geringswalde with state of the art technology

1892
The first major technological breakthrough- created a unique gold plating superior to all competitors.

1894
Max Hammer, son of Louis Hammer takes over the company.

1900
One of the earliest exhibitors at the World Exhibition in Paris

Extension of the building to make room for the growing business in Wilmsdorf, Germany

1907
Early success was crowned when Friedrich August III, (last) King of Saxony (1904 - 1918), visited the company. Mr Fritz Hammer (great grandson of the founder) in his memoirs recalls this occasion well. He was a boy then. They had prepared for everything for the visit including champagne but when the King was asked what he would like to drink he said he wanted a beer - and this was one of the few things they had not expected. So, little Fritz had to run to the nearest pub getting a pitcher of beer to satisfy the King.) He recounted this episode often to the senior members of the company.

1946
Fritz Hammer, takes over the reins of the company together with his brother Dr. Richard Hammer after his father, Max Hammer's death. This is after his professional training in Pforzheim, the USA, and several years of gaining experience in Hammer itself. He began to rebuild the family business by training goldsmiths, polishers, setters, and began producing his own alloy.

1949
The Hammer family moves to Pforzheim (Saxony becoming part of the German Dem. Rep. after World War II).

1952
Re-establishment of the family business under the old name of J.E. Hammer & Soehne at Pforzheim His brother did not accept his offer to join him so Mr. Fritz Hammer started again on his own

1962
Andreas Hammer (one of the present shareholders) takes over the company

1970
Second major technological break through - Andreas Hammer master minds the production scale wax setting technique, one which is now followed in all jewellery factories all over the world

1972
First german jewellery company to be invited to participate at the Basel show. Have been exhibiting since then.

1979Establishment of overseas colour stone office - Hammer Thai, now renamed Hammer Gems

1980Grand celebration of the company's 120th anniversary

1980first production building in Pforzheim

1982
second production building at Pforzheim, the first building remaining the location of administration and sales

1984Plans for building "Hammer City"

1987
Hammer achieves an annual turnover of over 100 million DM."

1988New double storey booth in Basel"

1989
H+S acquires Georg Lauer,a premium leading jewellery manufacturer which owned the brand Laudier"

1989
The then Minister-President of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Dr. Lothar Spaeth, officially visits H+S in acknowledgement of their achievements in export activities

1989 H+S launches the Cantelli jewellery brand

1990
Award of the Silver Medal of Honour, Industrial Chamber of Commerce by the president, Mr. Werner Weber, 21st June, in acknowlegement of their contribution to the business development of Pforzheim and the entire region

1990
Official visit of the Lord Mayor of the city of Pforzheim, Dr. Joachim Becker on January 10th,

1994Foray into international Real Estate with Goa and Mumbai(India) and Bangkok (Thailand)

1996De Beers International Diamond award for ‘The Tiara’ designed by Gianni Versace

1999
After several phases of restructuring and streamlining production and logistic operations completed. The time was right for additional investment in order to achieve long term growth and development.

2000
De Beers Diamond International Award for White gold multistrand choker features 1,414 diamonds weighing 132.94 carats designed by Khaiyam Jaliwala.

2000First overseas sales office, JHS, New York

2005
officially acknowledged by the Industrial Chamber of Commerce for their long-standing and high-class training of young people in their professional career.

2006 Platinum guild award the Retail Jewellery award for excellence in retailing for the Best Brand of the year - Trityam

2006Head Office shifted to Dubai, U.A.E

2007100% acquisition of the Peter Heim wedding band company thus completing the Group's presence in the jewellery market.
